Rep. Mike Steele shares highlights from the proposed 2021-23 capital budget

Rep. Mike Steele, R-Chelan, ranking Republican on the House Capital Budget Committee, shares highlights of the proposed 2021-23 capital budget plan.

The state's capital budget, also known as the construction or bricks and mortar budget, appropriates funding for land acquisitions, parks, broadband, construction and repair of public buildings, and other long-term investments.

Steele, the lead Republican on the House Capital Budget Committee, says the proposal, outlined in House Bill 1080, is historic. The plan invests $5.7 billion in projects, $3.5 billion of which is from the sale of general obligation bonds. It also includes more than $45 million in local infrastructure and construction projects for the 12th District.
